I've lived on Kelaen Lane in the area of Scotsdale Golf Course and Loch Lomand Dam for 17 years. I'm originally from Seneca and Monett, MO and graduated from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, MO with a degree in marketing. My career with Kraft Foods of 34 years took our family to stops in Corinth, MS - Memphis, TN - New Orleans, LA - Dallas, TX - Houston, TX - back to Dallas, and now to our home of NWA.

Shortly after moving to Bella Vista I lost my first wife, Dara, to breast cancer. Naturally, it was very difficult for my daughters and me. Through mutual friends, I met Rose and we were married two years later.

Rose and I have four children between us and four grandchildren. All are outstanding! Also, Rose and I have both been "retired" for a while. However, it certainly doesn't feel like it. We're busy!

I won't pretend that I'm much different than you. If you have lived any length of life, you have experienced the best of times and the most difficult of times. Like you, I've had my share of both. That makes us the same. Experienced!

As for me specifically, the following are a few things I've been doing while serving on the city council. Rose and I have traveled to several countries and areas of the U.S. I earned my private pilot license, through-hiked the Ozark Highland Trail, completed the rim to rim to rim hike in the Grand Canyon, backpacked extensively in high mountain country, scaled many difficult mountains - including Half Dome and Long's Peak, and happily filled many days with grandkids and extended family members (several over the age of 90!).
We all have a story. The only difference between you and me is that I made the decision to run for city council...the first time 8 years ago. I know there are many very smart and capable people that live in Bella Vista. I haven't met every one of you, but I've met a lot of you and I am often humbled by the people I represent.

Something I hope you have learned about me during my two terms is that when I make a commitment, I'm going to work hard to fulfill that commitment. It's an obligation I take seriously, and I don't want to let you down. During my two terms on the council, I've been "all in" and the experience I've gained is invaluable. While fulfilling my obligations on the council, I still desire and find a way to continue building life experiences. They challenge us and help develop perspective on what is going on all around us.

I hope by sharing my personal background, you will agree that I can relate to you and that my interests, desire and drive will translate into my being the type of council member who will continue to serve you well in a third term.

I'm up to it and I promise to "Do the Work" and represent your best interests and the interests of Bella Vista.

Sincerely,
Council Member Doug Fowler
